Dr. Shri Ram is Librarian and Professor of Library and Information Management at the Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala. He brings over 24 years of distinguished experience in library administration, management, and academic leadership.
He holds a PhD in Library and Information Science from Osmania University and qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the University Grants Commission in 2003. His academic background is multidisciplinary, with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Anthropology from the University of Delhi; a Bachelor of Library and Information Science and Master of Library and Information Science; and an M.Phil. in Library and Information Science.
Dr. Ram is a recipient of the prestigious Commonwealth Professional Fellowship awarded by the British Council, United Kingdom, in 2013, which he undertook at the University of East London, London. He has also been selected for the ICSSR–NRCT Bilateral Exchange of Scholars Programme at Thammasat University, Bangkok, Thailand. For his academic and professional credibility, he has been awarded with SATKAL National Libarian Award 2023 by SATKAL Trust and MANLIBNET Best Librarian Award 2024.
His contributions to academic librarianship are marked by the successful implementation of innovative technologies aimed at enhancing library services and operations. These include library automation, RFID-based systems, development of institutional repositories, creation of customized digital library platforms, and the introduction of Ask-a-Librarian services, collectively advancing the transformation of libraries into comprehensive digital knowledge systems.
